ACAPELLA MUSICAL THEATRE

During this musical theatre workshop you’ll explore a West End/Broadway classic arranged a Capella and in four part harmony. The session will be fast paced and a whole lot of fun! You’ll learn the parts by ear so you don’t need to be able to read music, but you’ll need a score to work from on the day. You’ll be sent a pdf nearer the time and a few spare copies will be available on the day.

SWASHBUCKLING SEA SHANTIES

Join us for a swashbuckling Sea Shanties Workshop! Open to all, this session explores traditional maritime songs taught in rich harmony. Learn the melodies that once echoed across the seas and sing together in true sailor spirit—no prior experience needed and all the lyrics will be on the big screen.

"HARMONY SIGNING"

Dr.Bannan will demonstrate the wordless Aural and Musicianship pedagogy he calls Harmony Signing. This approach develops harmonic experience and understanding that confers improved blend and tuning while representing a social, democratic means of deepening and enhancing knowledge of compositional techniques. No equipment is required: the method develops participation through the employment of a range of learnt gestures that convey both musical content (harmony, melody) and expression. Everybody is welcome - experienced singers and new comers

GO FOR GOSPEL

Back by popular demand, join experienced Gospel Choir Director and Bath Community Gospel Choir's founder, Jo Sercombe to learn some accessible gospel song from the Gospel repertoire. All learning will be done by 'hearing and singing back' and no previous experience is needed - just a desire to have a go and make a joyful noise! Lyrics will be on the big screen

CHORAL VOCAL TECHNIQUES

This session is designed for you to watch, listen, learn and ask questions
The Noteables are 10 SATB singers who meet once a week to sing and perform acapella pop, folk, world and sacred music. Tim Richards is in high demand as a vocal coach in the UK and Internationally working in both the Classical and Musical Theatre world. He will be working with The Noteables on keeping pitch, timbre, breathing, tone and much much more. You will see and hear him in action improving the choir while they sing 3 or 4 pieces of contrasting styles.
WORKSHOP L - 15:10 - 16:15
Matt Finch
A NEW COMPOSITION
(Music Readers Only)

Matt has written all sorts of choral music, both secular and sacred. He will be writing an acapella piece specifically for this session over the summer holidays. He will lead the session with his usual "charm and wit!" You will be able to download the music, and learning tracks from the start of September so you can get to know the piece before the session. A few spare copies will be brought on the day, but please do bring your own copy (and a pencil).
