Jo Sercombe

Jo works in Bath and nationally as a vocalist, Musical Director and workshop leader and is particularly keen to make singing accessible to all, regardless of skill or experience. Her busy workshops schedule is a testament to her flair for encouraging creativity in others as she travels the country working with adult singing groups, community choirs, schools and colleges, businesses and leisure-time learning institutions. She’s even taken to singing upon the high seas, working with world cruise passengers sailing round the Far East and the Caribbean! Closer to home, she founded and directs the Bath Community Gospel Choir and the Vivid gospel trio, teaches Singing for Actors at Bath Spa University and creates original music with Young Carers through Bath Philharmonia’s Education programme & Outreach. Jo enjoys her role as President of the Priston Music Festival and working as a workshop leader for The Ambassador Theatre Group in London’s West End.

VICKY JACOBS
 

Vicky Jacobs has developed a reputation for her ability to get anyone singing at their best - from Australia's top music theatre stars to the most nervous new singers.

Vicky has been Associate Musical Director on some of this country's biggest musicals including ‘Hairspray’, ‘Moulin Rouge’, ‘Come From Away’, ‘Beautiful: The Carole King Musical’, ‘Jersey Boys’, ‘Grease’ and ‘Singin’ in the Rain'. Vicky was Musical Director on ‘The Heartbreak Choir’ for Melbourne Theatre Company for which she received a Green Room Award nomination.

As well as music theatre, Vicky loves working with choirs. Vicky is the founder and director of Glee Club, Melbourne's original singalong choir. Glee Club hosts regular singalong events around Victoria and Tasmania and also runs weekly choirs, online singing sessions and workshops. In 2023 Vicky traveled to San Fransisco to work with Bobby McFerrin using his circle songs approach and is loving incorporating some of these ideas into her choir rehearsals.

Vicky is proud to be part of the team that developed the Number 1 Vocal Warm Up app for smartphone, Warm Me Up which you can download on iPhone or Android.

FRANCIS FAUX

Francis is a versatile and passionate musician who works primarily as a composer for media, video games and the concert hall. He has over twenty years of experience as a choral director, vocal coach and pianist and his music has been performed both in the UK and internationally.


Francis is currently working on a number of commissions and is always looking for opportunities to collaborate and share his brand of musical storytelling with others.

Beth Morgan

Beth Morgan is known online internationally as The Creative Choir Leader. Her CCL newsletter, blog, website, Facebook group and online membership supports over 1.5K choir leaders from around the world. In this role she has worked with Mark De Lisser, Deke Sharon (Pitch Perfect), John Rutter, Bob Chilcott, Karen Gibson (The Kingdom Choir), Kim Samuels (Renewal Choir), Roger Emerson (world’s top selling arranger for pop choral music), Suzzi Vango (How to Make Your Choir Sound Awesome), Greg Link (Apollo 5) and Joanna Tomlinson (National Youth Choir of Great Britain) to name but a few. Leading choirs for 30 years, Beth is formerly the Musical Director for the Bristol Military Wives Choir (2015-2024) and the founder of The Great Day Choir (2017-present). Beth is in demand as choir workshop leader. In September 2024, she is launching The Bristol Groove - a contemporary jazz, pop and soul choir for mixed voices.

I have been bringing music to people for over 25 years in my capacity as musical director, choir leader, composer, arranger and teacher. As an enthusiastic, skilled and motivated musician I enjoy inspiring others to become fully involved and exceed their expectations. I work across all genres from Classical Choral tradition, Musical Theatre, and Pop, conducting a diverse range of choirs and orchestras, and also compose arrangements by commercial request.  Matt has run MyPubChoir for several years - and gets random people together in a pub, and teaches them pop and rock songs, creating a unique blend!

Highlights of my career to date include:

  • Choirthon - getting 20 local choirs together to sing for 10 hours and raise over £5000 for charity

• Musical Director for 8 ensembles, recording Glorias & Requiems with hundreds of singers online during covid
• Organising 6 "Choirshows" on YouTube with over 50 different choirs from all over the UK
• Musical Director for a Choral Classics Weekend in Bath with 70 singers
• Producing an afternoon of singing in Bath Football Stadium
• Vivaldi’s Gloria in Venice and a live broadcast at Christmas on Radio 4 of a carol from Bath
• Founding "ChoirLab", an annual event where 250 singers try different styles of choir
• Musical Director for Bath Light Operatic Group (BLOG)

• 2022 Winner of the annual Sir David Willcocks Carol Competition

Bruce Ncube

Bruce Ncube is a Zimbabwean musician with over 15 years experience of touring and traveling all over the UK teaching and performing in some of the world's biggest platforms such as WOMAD, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Aberdeen International Youth Festival, Edinburgh Mela, African Drum Village, World Music Workshop Festival.

Alice Dicker

Alice studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She is the Musical Director for the South Petherton Combined Arts Society Choir and the Mid Wessex Singers, and Vocal Coach at both Huish Episcopi Academy and Strode College. Alice has a handful of private students, and also works as a freelance singer and conductor.

CLARE OLIVER

Clare is a professional singer, singing teacher and choral director.  Clare directs three choirs: the Chapel Choir at Farleigh School, Andover Ladies Choir, which she founded in 2017 (www.andoverladieschoir.co.uk) and Hampshire Harmony (www.basingstokeladieschoir.co.uk) She runs regular workshops and has taken choirs to performances and festivals throughout the UK and Europe.

Fran Jones

In 2011, Fran graduated from the University of South Wales with a degree in Drama. Since then, she has worked professionally as a vocalist, including performing at the Proms as part of London Philharmonic Choir, and as a vocal coach both abroad, teaching singing at a school in China and closer to home in various schools including Bristol Grammar School. Fran is a passionate singer and performer and loves inspiring others through music!

 

Fran leads the Bath Show Choir in Widcombe  & Southdown groups and also Frome Show Choir.

JANE HARRIS

Jane Harris is Director of Songways, based in Bath. Jane leads Songways choirs in Bath and Bradford on Avon, singing workshops and retreats in stunning venues, and Soul Soundings in Bath Abbey and Wells Cathedral. Jane has a clear, inclusive and enabling teaching style, and performs with her own vocal group Rolling Harmony.

Wendy Sergeant

Wendy Sergeant directs several large community choirs in North Somerset as well as running singing workshops across the UK. She also directs and sings with 16 piece a cappella group “The Chandeliers”. She studied Innovative Choir Leading at the Royal College of Music, Denmark 2020-2022. She is well-known in the community choir scene for being an up-beat, inspiring teacher and arranger and is most at home in a gorgeous chord with a funky groove!

Neil Moore

Neil read music at the University of Glasgow where he conducted the wind band and orchestra, set up the now-firmly established Music Club Choir and was President of the Music Society. While in Glasgow, and later in Edinburgh, he sang tenor and latterly countertenor at both cities' St Mary's Cathedrals.

Following university Neil began teaching singing and clarinet, and also sang countertenor with the choir of Hereford Cathedral under Geraint Bowen. He has appeared in the internationally acclaimed Three Choirs Festival, made several broadcasts on television and BBC Radio 3, recorded a number of CDs and toured extensively in the USA. He also took a choir to the finals of BBC Choir of the Year in 2008.

Since coming to Somerset Neil has sung with several choirs and directs Bath Cantata Group, Beckington Village Choir, Oakfield Choir, Frome and Midsomer Choral Society. He’s just been appointed Musical Director of Wincanton Choral Society and looks forward to starting with them in September.

He has recently performed solos in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Handel’s Solomon, as the title character, Theodora (Didymus), Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (Sorceress) Handel's Saul (David) and Messiah, Purcell's Ode to St Cecilia, Schütz's Christmas Story, Mozart's Requiem and Vivaldi's Gloria.

As a clarinettist, Neil regularly plays recitals, and often plays with the professional Mendip Ensemble.
